The city that has my heart....
I love New Orleans, like, big time. Like, drop everything and move down there tomorrow if I could. We tried a few years ago... and it just didn't happen. I guess it just wasn't meant to be. So we go, every opportunity we get. This time we had tickets to a Saints game and then hung out for the rest of the week. I have people ask me all the time what we do when we go down there and the honest answer is nothing. We just hang out. Walk around the Quarter, eat ridiculously awesome but unhealthy food, and just be. I am just a white country girl from Southern Illinois but when we drive down there, I feel like I am driving home. After not going down there for a good stretch of time...the minute I see a Louisiana License plate, or a commercial for a TV show taking place there, or hear a brass band playing somewhere, my heart aches. The people, the culture, the art, the food....I'm hooked.
So....long story short...I really like it down there. I could photograph for weeks and not take the same image twice. I shot film the whole time we were down there. Including a small session with a local gal who is attending Tulane! :) Her post will be coming up next!! :)
The entire town has good patina.
She was making pralines, that's Prah-leens, and I loved her.
Our hotel which was old and awesome, and the only hotel in the quarter that has gated self parking.
We drove for about 2 hours to go visit the Tabasco Factory on Avery Island which was sadly underwhelming. However...on the opposite side of the island there is a botanical garden that you drive thru that was absolutely amazing. I really feel they should host weddings there...I will totally move down and become their wedding coordinator if they would have me! :)
Just so you know...there was NO gate or fence between me and that guy there....
The moss...I really really love the moss
One of my favorite movies growing up was Return To Oz. The image on the right reminds me of that movie!! :) If you have never seen it...you should...but good luck finding it!! ;)
Love love love this bridge!!
last...but most certainly not least...Cafe DuMonde. I. will. never. get. tired. of. this. place.
